A Parish Council needs an emergency plan to ensure the community is prepared for unexpected events such as severe weather, flooding, snow storm, power outages, or major accidents. Having a clear, well-structured plan helps protect residents—especially vulnerable individuals—by outlining how information will be shared, what resources are available, and who is responsible for key actions, with their contact details. It also supports faster, more coordinated responses between local volunteers, emergency services, and neighbouring authorities. Ultimately, an emergency plan strengthens the parish’s resilience, reduces confusion during crises, and helps the community recover more quickly and safely.
